The New Balance P400 was first introduced during Junya Watanabe’s runway at Paris Fashion Week. Following a look at that upcoming collaboration, the new silhouette is now set to launch in general colorways beginning with this “Black/Inkwell” edition for February 2026.
At the center of it is a tight checkerboard upper that feels almost armored in execution. The toe stays locked in black, while the side panels transition into a black-and-white mix that adds movement. Blue accents on the “N” logo, lace panel, heel, and midsole stabilizer bring contrast without overpowering the base palette.
Visually, the tongue leans into classic New Balance territory. A white mesh base with grey reflective hits adds familiarity, while the creamy off-white laces soften the sharper elements. The color story feels deliberate rather than loud, balancing energy with structure.
Built with performance in mind, confirmed Fresh FoamX cushioning suggests comfort will be central to how the model wears. Still, full construction details remain under wraps, leaving space for deeper performance insight once pairs land.
