The All-Star sneaker release is truly a tradition like no other. On an annual basis, footwear companies stop the presses to retrofit and reimagine their hoops classics to meet local flavor and overall star power. In that lane, the Nike, Inc. empire remains a leader, oftentimes bolstering their earnest performance offerings with lifestyle ones to light up host city streets after the actual games conclude. On top of kicks like the Air Force 1 and Dunk that embrace this year’s LA showcase in more tacit fashion, the Air Jordan 1 “All-Star” serves as a genuine hero product.
Though there’s no particularly experimental color-blocking on display with this pair, don’t mistake that for a lack of special edition details. On top of hairy suede overlays that center this design, the Air Jordan 1 wears starry seasoning unapologetically; in literal terms with five-pointed perforations in the toe or in more creative terms with a reflective gold Wings logos. Icy blue soles mark an unexpected touch in the AJ1’s rich history. Finally, in a nod to the West Coast mecca, the Nike Air script on the tongue and the packaging overall each turn to Dodgers-like white and blue, with the typeface to match.
