Kawhi Leonard used one of basketball’s biggest stages to quietly introduce his next signature shoe. During NBA All-Star Weekend, he debuted the New Balance Kawhi 5 and delivered a standout performance, scoring 31 points in limited minutes and putting immediate attention on the new model.
The Kawhi 5 reflects New Balance Basketball’s evolving direction. Early images show a design that builds on the brand’s recent performance silhouettes, combining sculpted sidewalls with layered mesh and synthetic materials. A larger “N” logo is integrated into the upper, giving the shoe a more defined identity on court.
The build leans toward a low-cut profile, suggesting a focus on responsiveness and lockdown support. The midsole appears streamlined but stable, aligning with Leonard’s controlled and efficient playing style. While official tech details have not yet been confirmed, the overall construction points toward a balance of breathability, structure, and on-court stability.
Debuting the Kawhi 5 during All-Star Weekend signals strong confidence from both Leonard and New Balance as the brand continues to grow its basketball category. The model represents another step forward in refining its performance lineup heading into 2026.
An official release date has not yet been announced, but the New Balance Kawhi 5 is expected to arrive later this year.
