The New Balance 1890A Goes Full Referee Mode

The Ariyan Arslani cosign is a powerful thing. Indeed, Action Bronson instantly vaunted the New Balance 1890 into becoming the story for the New Balance brand, introducing a fresh face into the lifestyle roster with his two-pack. As we’ve uncovered some of the runner’s first general release colorways, we’ve made sure not to lose track of a parallel track for the model: the New Balance 1890A.

Peeling back the curtain a bit, the initial pale yellow/snakeskin colorway of the loafer that hit social media during Paris Fashion Week was a plotline we personally revisited a ton, as that new entrant into the “sneaker loafer” canon went months without updates. The following season’s French showcase at the top of this year only added more to the pile, with a Comme des Garcons collaboration and three presumed general releases previewed there. Now, lifestyle designer Yue Wu (@flyin_asparagus) gets on the board himself. The architect behind the “Protection Pack” 2002R and the “Liquid Metal” 2000 flexes an all-leather build for the moc-meets-trainer, fittingly outfitted in all-black to match that formalwear lean.

Sadly, this set of teaser images doesn’t come with a hard release date, but we’re expecting the 1890A journey to begin sometime in the coming weeks. For now, check out in-hand shots below.
