TikTok fashion influencers are calling the German Army Trainer one of the hottest sneaker silhouettes of 2026, but did it ever really leave? A lack of patentability has made the design easily replicable, meaning there have always been ways to get your hands on the style through one brand or another. That said, the continued slim sneaker trend has served GATs of all distinctions well, and we could slowly be starting to see the style return to its early 2000s and mid 2010s glory.
The renewed rise of the GAT has been noted by its originator in adidas, although PUMA also claims to be the brand responsible for the design (brotherly feuds, am I right?). The adidas BW Army has been on the upswing in recent seasons, trotting out both quintessential colorways as well as rugged, militaristic looks in canvas and cracked leather. This latest duo is of the more upscale variety, the model arriving in black and dark teal patent leather options. White leather interiors pair with white laces, while black sole units sit underfoot.
The adidas BW Army “Patent Pack” is available now via the adidas site, priced at $120 USD a pop. See our Where to Buy sections below for purchase links.
