Earth tones have been in heavy rotation, but this pair lands a little differently. There’s a quieter approach here, more about balance than making noise. The New Balance 992 “Olivine” fits right into that lane, bringing the Made in USA model back with a look that feels easy to wear.
The upper keeps things grounded from the start. Sage green runs through the mesh, then carries over into the suede overlays across the toe, heel, and eyestays. Nothing feels out of place. Cream accents step in around the midfoot and heel tab, softening the look without pulling attention. Then the caramel tones show up, adding a bit of edge on the tongue, collar branding, and outlining the “N” logo.
Details stay subtle, but they matter. Olivine hits appear on the TPU heel counter, eyelets, and parts of the midsole. “USA” branding sits at the heel, keeping it tied to the line. Below that, you’ll find an off-white midsole and gum outsole. They round things out nicely, without looking too dirty.
In short, it doesn’t overcomplicate itself. The color blocking is kept in check so the materials and colors can work.
