It’s a fantastic time to be A’ja Wilson. The Aces superstar just put the finishing touches on an all-time season, tossing a’nother MVP award and a’nother championship onto what’s becoming an unreasonable list of accolades. Off the WNBA hardwood, she’s embarked on her first overseas trip with the Swoosh, basked in partner Bam Adebayo’s ground-shaking 83-point performance from the podium, and revealed the second step in what’s already an acclaimed signature line.
As we noted in our initial coverage, the A’Two bucks typical hoop shoe convention, where the second shoe is usually an iteration on rather than a full reinvention of its predecessor. The Nike A’Two, with its bulkier, chunkier build, instead looks to the ’90s for its aesthetics in a stark rebuff of the sleeker, more streamlined design that defined the A’One.
Despite turning to a few decades ago in its design language, the pearl motif overall remains intact with the wavy, molded lines in the shoe’s upper, and of course, with the expected expressive lean of its colorway options. An early listing by retailers has now shown off the second A’Two colorway we’ve caught wind of so far, a gradient-laden mix of blue and purple that tacks an orange Swoosh onto that aquatic base. Crossed engineered mesh cuts through for some regal interplay.
The Nike A’Two in its debut pink is expected to release on May 2nd, with this gradient look likely to come further down the line as the silhouette gets its legs under it. While not confirmed, there’s a real possibility this is a Grade School exclusive, potentially as a part of this year’s kids-only “King of the Court” capsule.
