Renegade Running’s First Nike Collab Takes Inspiration From Mexican Deserts

Nike is one-upping its commitment to running specialty stores and the communities that make them great through a collaboration with California’s Renegade Running, set to deliver two styles that champion its founder’s Mexican heritage.

Renegade was founded in 2020 by former public school educator Victor Diaz, who opened his first store in Oakland and has more recently expanded into the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. The shop has already orbited Nike’s ecosystem in the past, co-hosting a number of workshops with Nike Re-Create just earlier this month.

The Nike Vomero Premium and Vaporfly 4 are the two models of choice, covering both road running and race day. Each features a Brown Basalt backdrop decorated with accents inspired by Mexican deserts. The Vomero Premium swaps out its usual Uptempo-inspired “AIR” font in favor of new lettering pulled from the Renegade logo, matched in energy by Total Orange hits on the visible Zoom Air bags. The Vaporfly 4, meanwhile, sees orange Renegade branding on the medial side as its defining visual cue. Subtle messaging reading “Barrios Unidos” (translated to “united neighborhoods”) appears on each pair.

The Nike x Renegade footwear collection debuts April 1st through Renegade (in-store and online), followed by a wider drop via Nike SNKRS and select retailers on April 4th. The Vaporfly 4 comes in at $280, while the Vomero Premium sits at $240. Scroll through the official image galleries below if you’re considering copping.
