Nike LeBron 23 “Motor King” Recalls His Unstoppable Scoring Streak

The Heat, Cavaliers, and now Lakers have plenty of fond memories with the King wearing their jerseys. The other 27 squads more closely regard LeBron James as antagonizer than acclaimed. As the LeBron 23 canonizes some of James’ biggest moments, they’ve visited that villainous part of his career plenty already, through the “LeBronto,” “Green With Envy,” and “Masked Menace” colorways, but there’s still more to tell with the LeBron 23 “Motor King.”

While still on his rookie contract and en route to his first NBA Finals, a nascent Kid From Akron terrorized the Pistons to the tune of 25 straight points, including the game-winning layup that brought his Cavaliers a 3-2 advantage in the Eastern Conference Finals. Every angle of the story is legend-making in its own right, from the fact that LeBron was just 22 years old to the murderers’ row of defenders the performance came against, the Pistons then holding perennial contender status with a Finals-winning core of Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince, and Chauncey Billups.

The Nike LeBron 23 “Motor King” adapts the Pistons’ white jerseys from that game, flanking an embroidered white base with hits of blue and red. The real standout feature is a lenticular crown chassis, changing color across different angles. As all releases from the 23 have, the story culminates with a bespoke logo, as a flame-spitting, crown-wearing skull appears in blue at the heel.
