The “meme shoe” is a bustling category nowadays, blurring the lines between actual fashion and novelty items and sometimes birthing some season’s hottest commodities (who could forget the reign of the MSCHF Big Red Boot?) In truth, it’s the tangible manifestation of what some surreal artists have been carving out for years, and with the Bag Boot By Esenes, they’re foregrounding the connection between the creatives and the manufacturers.
Shown in situ in all the usual errand-run applications you’d expect of a classic brown bag, the Bag Boot is a collaboration between Esenes and multi-hyphenate Gab Bois, who “concept tested” this idea all the way back in February 2025. Brand and artist worked together in the time since to make it a reality, now appearing in all of its checkout-to-campaign glory. “Genuine brown paper leather” makes up most of the hardware, one piece through a majority of its surface area before splitting at the toe. The real adaptation happens at the top of the design, however, where serrated edges and handle pull-tabs keep the Bag Boot’s inspiration at the heart of the final product.
Concrete release info for the Esenes Bag Boot hasn’t come to light just yet, but they will be available in whole number sizing from M4 to M14. Those who typically opt for half sizes are recommended to size up to the nearest available.
