Sole Play’s adidas “404 Day” Remembers The 1996 Olympics

adidas continues to celebrate city-specific holidays with exclusive releases, often tapping into its deep network of retail partners in the process. Atlanta’s “404 Day” is right around the corner on April 4th, and this year the brand links with local boutique Sole Play on a two-pair collection that stands among the strongest entries in the series to date.

The Adistar Control 5 and ever-present adidas Superstar both get reworked with inspiration from the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, channeling nostalgic mid-’90s energy through bold multicolor executions. Starting with the Control 5, the sneaker features a teal mesh base layered with hits of gold, orange, and blue, plus a subtle pop of pink at the top eyelet. The Superstar takes a different approach, pairing a white leather base with blue stripes and cracked leather backtabs stamped with Atlanta branding. Both pairs come packaged with pins and additional Olympic-themed accessories to round out the story.
