Air Jordan 7 “Year of the Rabbit” 2011 459873-005

The Air Jordan 7 “Year of the Rabbit” remains one of the more overlooked special-edition releases in Jordan Brand history. Released in 2011 to celebrate the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Rabbit, the sneaker arrived in limited fashion and never got the broader, recurring spotlight that later lunar-themed Jordan drops would receive. The shoe originally released on May 1, 2011, in Asia before arriving in the U.S. on May 7, 2011, with a retail price of $160.

Design-wise, the pair pulled from the classic Air Jordan 7 “Hare” playbook while giving it a more premium and celebratory twist. The upper used a Light Silver base with perforated side panels, while white overlays helped balance the look. From there, Metallic Gold details on the branding, heel pull tab, and lace area gave the shoe its standout finish, while True Red hits on the midsole and throat added the sharp contrast that tied the whole theme together.

Part of what still makes the release memorable is its exclusivity. The Air Jordan 7 “Year of the Rabbit” launched in limited quantities and came with themed packaging, which only added to its collector appeal. More importantly, while Jordan Brand has revisited “Year of the Rabbit” on other models over the years, the Air Jordan 7 version has never received an official retro release.

That has helped keep the Air Jordan 7 “Year of the Rabbit” in grail territory for longtime Jordan collectors. With no official return to date, the resale market, including platforms like StockX, remains the best option for anyone still trying to track down a pair today.
