With the the upcoming WNBA season marking the 30th anniversary of the women’s league, there’s bound to be some level of tributary gestures to the original eight franchises. As one of the OG octet, the New York Liberty will be front and center in NYC this summer, and its star athlete looks to be getting involved in some of the celebration.
The recently announced Nike Sabrina 4 signature shoe will be playing a role as we get a first look at a PE colorway of Ionescu’s fourth model. Featuring black, mint green, orange, and royal blue, this colorway is unquestionably a direct nod to the original jerseys worn by Teresa Witherspoon, Rebecca Lobo, and the other women who were part of the Liberty’s inaugural season.
The Sabrina 4s being unveiled as we speak in China, and a release isn’t expected until roughly mid-way through the upcoming season. We do expect Ionescu to debut the shoes on court and sprinkle a Player Exclusive here and there–with this throwback version being one of them.
