atmos and New Balance are linking up again, this time with a “Wasabi” take on the ABZORB 2010 that feels easy to remember from the first look. The Tokyo shop takes the newer retro runner and gives it a layered green finish that feels more thoughtful than flashy, which has been a big reason its collaborations usually land so well.
The upper does most of the work here, mixing several green shades and a few different suede textures to keep the shoe from feeling flat. Medium tones of green take over portions of the toe box, heel and side panels. A shaggy mint panel drapes over the low-top for a muted punch of color. Adjacent sections of darker suede green make up signature places such as the tongue and heel. Sections of sleek army green overlay help shape the shoe along the toe box and rear. Cream mesh underneath helps break everything up and keeps the color story from getting too heavy.
What makes this pair work is how natural it feels. Nothing looks forced, and the mix of tones gives the shoe depth without making it too busy.
