If nothing else, these customs have soul sole. @atelierkato, a cobbler, sole purveyor, and sneaker customizer out of Japan, just shared a pair we can’t help but put in front of you all: a radical take on the Air Max 95 “Neon” built with not one, but three full sole units.
We’re not here to call it a hit or a miss, just to present it and let you decide. That said, we’re left with a clear appreciation for the craftsmanship, as the stacked soles appear to be fused together very cleanly. While not quite as extreme, this is a direction we’ve seen Nike Inc. explore before, particularly under Jordan Brand. The Air Jordan Mule comes to mind with its oversized tooling, while the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Low “Triple Stack” goes down the exact same avenue.
If you’re into that wacky, chunky aesthetic, you can inquire about purchasing a pair via Instagram HERE.
