Nearly a decade removed from their last link-up, Converse and Engineered Garments are back at it with a new collaboration. The focus here shifts from the One Star to the Weapon, with the Daiki Suzuki-led imprint delivering two colorways rooted in ‘80s basketball lore.
The project lands on the low-top Converse Weapon Ox, a silhouette that’s seen renewed attention through collabs with A-COLD-WALL*, Patta, and A Ma Maniére to name a few notables. Engineered Garments taps into the model’s earliest days, revisiting two OG-inspired looks tied to the iconic rivalry between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. Leading the way is Magic’s Vintage White and Yellow “Lakers” colorway, while a straightforward black-and-white pair channels Bird’s side of the story, both pulled from the Weapon’s original 1986 campaign (pictured below).

As expected with Engineered Garments, the biggest shift comes via the hardware. The brand outfits the silhouette with added velcro straps across the forefoot and heel, a non-original element that feels surprisingly natural on the retro basketball model.
The Engineered Garments x Converse Weapon drops May 1st via Converse, with the “Lakers” colorway also releasing on Nike SNKRS. Retail is set at $145 per.
