Nike SB has taken a swing by turning the Air Force 1 into a legitimate skate shoe. Whether the Nike SB Air Force 1 can truly hang with core skate models is a question best left to the skaters, but the reworked shape looks excellent – lower, wider, and overall more faithful to the AF1’s original 1980s construction.
This Nike SB Air Force 1 arrives in a familiar “Flax/Wheat” makeup, featuring a buttery suede upper paired with a full gum sole unit. The palette carries deep roots for both the Air Force 1 and SB Dunk lineage, the former long celebrated for its workboot-inspired “Wheat” styles that reliably return each fall and winter. Nike SB famously tapped into that same formula with the SB Dunk Low “Wheat” in 2021, later bringing the pair back in 2023. And of course, there’s Reese Forbes’ legendary “Wheat” Dunks from 2002 if you really want to trace the lineage.
These SB Forces land somewhere in the middle of those worlds, combining classic “Wheat” styling with skate-focused modifications like a padded tongue, widened shape, and a thinned-out forefoot for improved board feel.
No release date for the Nike SB Air Force 1 “Wheat” has been announced yet, though a Summer or Fall 2026 launch appears likely. See detailed images below and stay tuned for updates.
