The adidas Adistar XLG 2.0 Does Another Jellyfish Impression

The just-outside Jellyfish? The partial Pharrell’s? We kid, of course, but despite the adidas AdiStar XLG 2.0 making a strong push to establish its selling points away from the multi-hyphenate’s co-sign, from jump, the exploded silhouette has been attached to his name. Either just by sheer visual similarity or reports from close confidants like Upscale Vandal during ComplexCon, it’s hard to remove the “takedown” label from one of the latest inductees to the Adistar family.

Yet all that said, the ultra chunky aesthetics the XLG 2.0 taps into weren’t invented whole cloth by Pharrell, and the model does do well in introducing an option further down on the price ladder to speak to that style of dress. A “Royal Blue” colorway introduces a new sport-forward palette, meeting a standard white/black foundation with veins of cerulean coursing across the quarters, atop the overlays, and within the 3D 3 stripes on the sides.

The adidas Adistar XLG 2.0 “Royal Blue” should be hitting adidas.com and partnering retailers on June 1st, retailing for $150.
