The Swoosh’s dedicated team of player exclusive designers have demonstrated that they prefer to hone in on one silhouette per season, whether to add fuel to the fire of general release colorways or just to simplify the product coming out of their workshops. As the college football season nears its earnest Week 1 kick-off, the Nike Vaporposite Pro has emerged as a focus, with the LSU Tigers the latest to get in on the converted silhouette.
As part of an overarching effort to shift athletes’ heat away from the realm of customizers and bespoke artisans and towards Nike’s own supply chain, the Vaporposite Pro has shined in recent months as a way to bring street style onto the field of competition. While the general consumer gets a stab at “Pearl,” “Royal,” or “Varsity Red” colorways, the pros (or semi-pros, in this case) get pairs that are a cut above.
You probably could’ve guessed that the LSU Tigers’ Vaporposite Pro would come in proud yellow and purple, with the former overtaking the hardened exteriors and the latter draping the collar, tongue, and laces. Yet the tiger striped patterning adds an extra dimension to what this pair brings forward. A golden outsole finish and trademark Tiger logo at the very rear close this design.
The LSU Tigers x Nike Vaporposite Pro, understandably, will remain exclusive to the school’s athletes. Expect some appearances for this colorway for the Tigers’ home opener against Clemson.
