What boxes does a Jordan Brand colorway need to check before it’s considered one of their iconic color combinations? Surely “Chicago” and “Bred” are well qualified, so frequently reached for across the catalog in tying back to MJ’s formative years in the league. Can we say the same of “Thunder,” now spawning a series of tinted colorways including the upcoming Jordan 4 “Pink Thunder?” Whatever criteria you judge that, admittedly abstract, concept on, “Grape” has squarely cleared the bar, often utilized to bring ’90s attitude to silhouettes that may not have been present in that era.
Now arriving via official Nike images, the Jordan Spizike Low fits that bill, a modern invention yet one that’s still more than suited for the infamous purple/aqua combo. It’s only right, given that Spike Lee’s silhouette utilizes the Air Jordan 5 tooling already in its side netting, but the mash-up model diverges in a few key ways. Importantly, there’s the addition of light grey tonality in the elephant print, and a greater emphasis on black via the AJ4 wing anchors. It’s a rather true adaptation of the OG colorway all the same, allowing for the same throwback attitude if you struck out on the last Retro or if the Spizike Low better fits your style of dress.
The Jordan Spizike Low “Grape” should be hitting Nike.com and partnering retailers in the coming weeks, retailing for $160 once that comes to pass. Catch official images below and watch our Jordan Release Dates page for more info.
