To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its original release, Y-3 and adidas uncaged the “Beast Pack” once more, retrofitted for the “cleats as lifestyle” movement with a new indoor soccer platform. Adapting menacing wolves, tigers, and dragons (oh my) onto performance wear offered the flair that’s so sought out on the pitch, yet with the left field character expected from any Yohji Yamamoto product.
Reversing course from that lifestyle adaptation, the Y-3 adidas “Beast Pack” is back as an earnest performance effort. The set of four expressive colorways has now been applied to the adiZero Electric II+, a modern offering replete with Primeknit uppers and a multi-surface package underfoot. If you’ve seen any of the “Beast Pack” pairs before, the actual colorways here shouldn’t surprise you; the ferocious fauna remain in place, lending their physiology comprehensively to each shoe’s top half.
