Paisa Boys’ Nike SB P-Rod 1 Features Glow-In-The-Dark Scorpions

LA-based streetwear brand Paisa Boys could be on the precipice of its first Nike sneaker release. The Mexican-American owned and operated imprint, which most recently worked with the Swoosh on an unofficial Mexico kit for the World Cup, here stakes claim to a radical new Nike SB P-Rod 1 packed with color, texture, cultural significance, and surprising details, shown below via early leaked images.

First, there’s the cultural connection. Paisa Boys’ Mexican-American heritage sits at the forefront of everything the brand does, and Paul Rodriguez, a Nike SB man for over two decades, has operates similarly through many of his footwear releases over the years. More important still, P-Rod was the first skater and first Latino to receive a signature shoe from Nike, that shoe of course being the P-Rod 1.

Marking a major milestone in the model’s retro run, the Paisa Boys x Nike SB P-Rod 1 is loud in pretty much every way imaginable. Eyes are first drawn to the toe box, where Bright Cactus croc skin makes a strong impression off the rip. Varsity Red croc skin appears on the medial side just above a yellow snakeskin Swoosh, while ostrich leather wraps the toe and heel in saddle brown and black, respectively. The backtabs arrive in Green Apple with Speed Yellow Nike branding, and the eyestays are mismatched in Varsity Red and Imperial Blue patent leather. The tongue is notable too, featuring wide beige mesh and a unique co-branded emblem at its center.

And there’s still more. The sneaker features multiple references to scorpions, including glow-in-the-dark graphics on the outsoles and custom silver lace dubraes akin to western belt buckles. This will mark Paisa Boys’ first-ever Nike sneaker, following an Air Force 1 and Cortez pack from 2024 that mysteriously never wound up hitting shelves.
