ASICS And Above The Clouds Weave Together The GEL-SD Lyte

Australia’s Above the Clouds has become a global sensation for their collaborative arm, establishing a prolific partnership with ASICS as A-list curators across so many of their running styles. Their relationship with the Japanese giant has turned into an annual affair (at least), last coming together on the GEL-Quantum 360 but spanning back to their GT-2160, GEL-1090, or Skycourt.

For their next act, the GEL-SD Lyte is in focus, a silhouette perhaps best known for its three Commes De Garcons efforts but nonetheless proving a steady presence in the ASICS tech catalog all the same. While the brand has so often spotlighted hometown pride in their output, here it’s a material focus, as the GEL-SD Lyte ditches its typical airy mesh foundation for woven strips of leather. In their own telling, the shoe takes “inspiration from the ancient act of weaving,” as “a tribute to communities of craft and design.”

The Above the Clouds x ASICS GEL-Lyte drops via the imprint’s site on September 25th, before a wider launch via retailers and ASICS.com in the week following.
