The sports world descends on Indianapolis this weekend for the WNBA All-Star game, and footwear brands are already utilizing the increased spotlight to champion their best and brightest. While two of the league’s established stars made major headlines in recent weeks via the Kobe 5 “Caitlin Clark” and the complete reveal of the Angel Reese 1, one of the W’s fastest risers is now getting in on the action. With an official reveal likely just around the corner, Paige Bueckers took to the weekend’s preliminary festivities wearing one of Nike Basketball’s next big innovations, the GT Cut 4.
Though it’s tough to make out specific details from afar, one thing is abundantly clear; the Nike GT Cut 4 pushes things into a far sleeker, futuristic direction, perhaps best elucidated by the jagged striations on the lateral side. Those 3D textures continue with debossed detailing on the lateral side, and an iridescent blue and purple colorway only further enhances that next-century aesthetic. With that in mind, it’s hard not to think of the Nike GT Future, bearing many of the same hallmarks and perhaps indicating where the “Greater Than” series is headed as it continues on.
Hoopers likely don’t need this spelled out, but the Nike GT Cut franchise has been genuinely among the brand’s biggest inline hits. The third iteration is widely adopted on both the pro and recreational circuit and currently supports a premium “Turbo” offshoot, and though the series’ history is only a few years deep, it’s become so well-entrenched with consumers that the Swoosh has already brought back the GT Cut 1.
As we alluded to towards the top, Nike Basketball’s social channels have already hinted at a big reveal for the Nike GT Cut 4, posting a shrouded close-up of the heel with the caption “Buckets incoming.” We’ll keep you posted with the latest via this article and our coverage at large.
