Nike doesn’t need another Vomero 5. It needs its own ASICS GEL-1130 or New Balance 530, that being an archival retro runner that delivers comparable aesthetics for less. Based on early reception, Nike may have found it in the Zoom Streak 3, a 2009 performance model now back on shelves as a lifestyle offering.

Following a “Volt” pack at the top of July, the Streak 3 continues its comeback with a clean and simple “Cream II/Sail” colorway for women, a versatile, easy beater option. While the Streak 3 actually predates the Vomero 5, it reads more modern thanks to its flush, almost one-piece upper, a key quality that helped pave the way for Flyknit a few years later. We’re slowly starting to see the 2000s trend turns over to the 2010s, and Nike has no shortage of success stories to pull from in that window. For now, think of the Streak 3’s return as the Swoosh moving the chains for itself. There will be plenty more to come in 2027…
