With a steady roll-out of teasers that included a photoshoot with @sukiibaby, a set of toddler-sized shoes, and an appearance at Paris Fashion Week, the highly-anticipated Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 is primed to be unleashed to the public on the brand’s home turf in the Lower East Side.
First confirmed by Sneaker News last October, the Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 is a two-pair event. Awake NY has owned the “pink sneaker of the year” with the Bubblegum edition, easily winning the hearts of many for its striking hue and the call-out to the original “Fire Red” colorway from 1990. The Black/Racer Blue edition acts as the perfect ode to New York City, marked by the streetwear label’s signature blue shade while nodding to NYC’s affinity for black footwear for all occasions.
Unquestionably the standout detail of this collaboration is the brand’s “A” logo intermixed into the completely rebuilt upper netting. Those who understand the process of getting a shoe made, particularly with Jordan Brand, can grasp the sheer challenge it was to accomplish this feat. At the end of the day, Michael Jordan signed off on the concept, and Awake has set new standards for what can and can’t be done with an independent brand logo on an Air Jordan shoe.
Here’s the full brass tax regarding the release and the quantity, confirmed by Angelo Baque: Only 7,000 pairs of the Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 “Bubblegum” were made (not 7,500), with each pair featuring a “0001/7000” embroidered behind the tongue. The “Racer Blue” colorway is limited to just 13,000 pairs (no embroidery).
Sneaker News can also confirm the official release information of the shoes: both Bubblegum Pink and Racer Blue will launch via EQL online raffle on Sunday, August 17th, 2025. There will be an additional EQL raffle for just the Bubblegum Pink pair for in-store pick-up on Monday, August 18th. The Black/Racer Blue pair will launch again on August 30th via Nike SNKRS and select retailers. The Bubblegum Pink is exclusive to Awake and will not release anywhere else on any other date.
Prior to the release on August 16th, Awake NY will host a party/event at the nearby Seward Park; come through for an afternoon of fun.
