Low-rise jeans, bedazzled tees, and micro miniskirts have been out in force this summer, fueled by renewed appreciation for a Britney Spears, Ke$ha-esque era of fashion that’s shaped much of the past few years. That energy has extended to footwear as well, whether that be tech runners, chunky Mary Janes, tabi-toed models, or for our purposes, jelly sandals, a long-dormant category of beachwear now serving as a muse for today’s sneaker leaders.
Joining a jelly-inspired Nike Rejuven8 pack and multiple PUMA releases, including a Rihanna collection, New Balance is hopping on the jelly wave with an all-new model. Detailed images posted by Brooklyn-based creative Jessi Frederick show a new lime green sandal featuring a translucent upper and plush footbed to match, the top portion drawing from the Boston brand’s retro running lineup with techy detailing.
No release info for the New Balance jelly sandal has been announced yet, but we expect that to change soon. For now, enjoy first look images below.
