As always, the far-ahead manufacturing process in sneakers makes quick responses nigh impossible. However, while we can’t say this Nike Vomero Premium with pocked eye patterns is directly inspired by the positive reaction to Melitta Baumeister’s heavily distressed colorways, that collaboration certainly did clear a lane for a potentially warm reception.
Elsewhere in the catalog, animal print, realtree, and all manner of experimental patterns that’ve paced fellow runners like the Pegasus Premium additionally demonstrate Beaverton’s willingness to take big swings on this revamped performance roster. No doubt this arrangement is the boldest yet, reminding one of rainforest fauna on the sides as those bright green 3D details are bridged together by blue webbing. Towards the toe, something far more abstract takes over as those become neon spikes. As always with any Nike product shaded this way, we can’t help but think of the “Volt” Olympics moment that’s been so influential in the time since. Yet calming navy shades at the base help bring some grounded tonality into the mix, solidified by contrasting cushioning in the pods below.
When exactly we’ll get this spiked version of the Nike Vomero Premium is, for now, unclear. As we parse through the storytelling that might inspire its zany layout, check out in-hand images below. Watch our Sneaker Release Dates page for more on the latest and greatest on the newswire.
