Japanese sci-fi franchise Ghost in the Shell is stepping into the world of sneaker collaborations with help from its countryman, atmos, linking up with Reebok for an exclusive three-way take on the locally beloved Instapump Fury silhouette.
Best known for its 1995 film, Ghost in the Shell was by all means well ahead of its time, diving into themes of artificial intelligence while probing the relationship between the “ghost” (consciousness) and the “shell” (physical body). The Instapump Fury makes for a fitting canvas, having debuted just a year before the film and sustaining a strong following in Japan ever since.
The design is inspired yet wearable, drawing from a chaotic tangle of wires with multicolored blue and red cable graphics laid across a black background. Japanese characters land in light teal on the heel and Pump button, while a custom shoebox completes the delivery.
