Nike has a new two-pair drop on deck with the Patent Leather “Smiley Face” Pack, and it brings the Air Force 1 Low and Dunk Low into the mix with a shared theme that still lets each shoe do its own thing. Both pairs carry the same calling cards, including black patent heel tabs with colorful Nike lettering and small stitched smiley marks placed along the lateral side.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Smiley Face” keeps it simple in the best way. White pebbled leather takes over the upper, while soft blue and bright coral patent Swooshes break things up with a split look that feels fresh but not overdone. Black hits on the heel and outsole add some contrast, and the smiley detail gives the pair a little character without pushing it too far.
The Nike Dunk Low “Smiley Face” shouts its presence a lot louder upon first glance. Built upon white tumbled leather, the Hydrogen Blue overlays and stacked Flash Crimson Swooshes help brighten and energize the shoe. Even the glow-in-the-dark outsoles help add one more playful touch that sets this Dunk apart from the Air Force 1.
Smiley branding, patent leather, and misplaced color application link them both, but they each take their own unique places style-wise. Where the AF1 Low is an easy-on-any-day shoe, the Nike Dunk Low wants all the attention.
