Today is about celebrating the mothers who have always put their children first and given more than we could ever ask for. To every mom who worked multiple jobs, put in long overtime hours, or raised her children on her own, this day is especially for you.
For many of us sneakerheads, our love for sneakers started because of our mothers. Without their hard work and sacrifices, a lot of us would not have had the chance to fall in love with the sneaker game the way we did. Chances are, many of us had our moms buy us our first fresh pair of kicks, so make sure today is spent showing them some extra love.
My Story: My mom raised three boys on her own while working two jobs and putting in more than 60 hours a week. No matter the circumstances, she always found a way to make sure I could get a new pair of Air Jordans when they released. My first pair was the Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement”, and if it were not for my mom buying me that first pair of Js, I may never have developed the love I have for sneakers today. More importantly, I would not be the man I am now without her.
