It’s a pivotal year for the Bad Bunny adidas empire. To date, his work on established silhouettes like the Campus, Gazelle, and Forum have truly done gangbusters, but as Benito’s star rises within the German giant’s circle, he’s shifting focus onto his own signature silhouettes. The initial look for the BadBo 1.0, tied to his Super Bowl halftime moment earlier this year, was an instant sell-out, but both sneakerheads and analysts are captive in regards to how his next moves will play out.
Interestingly enough, signals of what could be on the way for the Puerto Rican superstar are coming from a different partnership entirely. First teased in San Francisco, the Bad Bunny x Zara BENITO ANTONIO collection. A 150-piece lifestyle capsule has careened towards its May 21st release date with teasers and lookbook images; the latter is what’s in focus for us today. Within styled shots, models flexing the BENITO ANTONIO universe also sport unreleased Bad Bunny x adidas footwear.
Two silhouettes, the Stone Slide and a boxing-like, adidas Japan-adjacent sneaker, are in focus. The former, despite not being officially announced by the brand, has been in the ether for some time, first previewed to ours and the media’s eyes in Puerto Rico last summer. Putting a naturalistic spin on typical adilette construction, it’s expected to be Bad Bunny’s first foray into a more casual lane. Unfortunately, the other model is a bit more shrouded, but you can draw a throughline to this pair and the “Rise” BadBo 1.0, obviously increasing the height and slimming the sole for a more fashion-forward profile.
