The Metagirl x Vans Old Skool 36 Drops On May 28th

The Vans moment moves along unabated. In the midst of palette swapped versions of established smashes like additional Vans Souvenir colorways and further material explorations like the Old Skool 36 “Knot,” OTW’s collaborative arm remains a reliable way to keep up the heat around the brand.

METAGIRL, customizer and designer extraordinaire, marks the newest partner to enter the California company’s orbit. In 2025, Caterina Mongillo marked her biggest collaboration to date, truly reformatting the Saucony Paramount with her “Daughter of the Moon” concept, a heady narrative-driven pair and one that demonstrated the crossover potential of her bespoke designs.

While no doubt still well-justified in terms of storytelling, the METAGIRL x Vans Old Skool 36 “Diva” is a bit more straightforward in how it comes together. The standard black/white skate shoe is the foundation, but nearly every section of it is reformed or reinterpreted. A new sparkly midfoot strap fastens the hardware, the upper materials swap between the standard canvas and stealthy snakeskin, frayed edges around the Sidestripe and tongue speak to distressed aesthetics, and of course, embedded studs on the toe touch on the wave that continues to propel Vans forward.
