Collina Strada Brings Their Whimsical Vision To Converse Classics

As we’ve mentioned countless times before, the widened scope of collaborations and the increased attention paid by major brands to women’s footwear has borne out some truly unexpected link-ups. The Mowalola Jordan 14 and Melitta Baumeister Nike Running capsules each speak to that, allowing rather unrestrained access to a vaunted silhouette and two buzzy performance icons, respectively.

Though we likely wouldn’t have predicted those specific link-ups, Collina Strada with her first Converse collection feels like a more natural fit, as the Boston brand has been reinventing their core Chuck 70 for years on years. The NY-based sustainable fashion label takes that idea and sprints away with it with this inaugural capsule, letting loose four distinct pairs that run the gamut from XL proportions to subtler low-pro.

In terms of the actual design, it’d take less time to note the spots where the label doesn’t modify or tinker, but extended tongues, spiky eyelets, heavy charm applications and dueling plaids vs. breezy jacquards are the ties that bind across all of the offerings. The Chuck 70 XXHi and a Chuck 70 Low hit on the latter, wearing murdered-out palettes that contrast the delicate nature of the floral prints in their uppers. The Chuck 70 proper and another Low take a different aesthetic entirely, reaching for spring-like pastels that run unabated from the collar to the sole.

The Collina Strada x Converse collection releases on June 16th via Converse.com and SNKRS. The Chuck 70 XXHi clocks in at $205, the High at $175, the two Low colorways at $165 each.
