Nike And A’ja Wilson Partner With Women’s Sportswear Brand Playa Society

It truly is A’ja Wilson’s world; we’re just living in it. As much ink is spilled about the next generation of WNBA stars, and as exciting as they may be, it’s still #22’s league until proven otherwise. On top of accidental blocks from this weekend, she unveiled her Nike A’Two in its first collaborative arrangement, given an elevated treatment by W inner-circle members Playa Society.

For the uninitiated, the imprint was founded by Esther Wallace, a former college hooper herself, with a precise aim of bringing off-the-court wear befitting women’s athletes everywhere. Quickly, the brand built a real footprint in the league, creating some serious synergy as designs dedicated to legends like Cynthia Cooper and Candace Parker found their way onto the stars themselves. Official collaborations with the biggest leagues would follow, as well as more cultural link-ups like their Cash App or Love & Basketball collections.

That background context makes the Nike A’Two featured here a no-brainer, bringing Playa Society under the stewardship of the Swoosh for the first time. A refined leather letterman jacket with co-branded details flanks a similarly outfitted version of the Nike A’Two, carrying the same materiality but not losing hallmarks like the checkered mesh foundation or the jeweled heel cup.
