Who ultimately deserves the credit for showing New Balance the light, quite literally, by introducing far more expressive palettes to contrast their usual “dad shoe” aesthetics is still a real matter of debate. Whether it’s one of their esteemed collaborators like Joe Freshgoods or Action Bronson, or simply an internal development visible in those outside link-ups, will likely never be fully squared away.
The general consumer is now able to enjoy the fruits of that labor regardless of its origins. While Summer feels excruciatingly far-off in the Northern Hemisphere, the Boston brand is already gearing up, bringing an expressive “Creamsicle” palette to the ever-reliable New Balance 1906R. Planting on a wide-mesh build of the model, orange influences those fabric sections and their metallic leather counterparts, anchored by white and off-white in the heel cage and midsole. And of course, we can’t escape without a few hits of grey, here centered on the N-lock unit and the eyelets.
The New Balance 1906R “Creamsicle” is queued up on global channels for March 1st; a stateside drop is likely to coincide or come soon after. Be ready for the usual $155 retail price once it touches down.
