The Vans Old Skool Stays Hot With Two Premium “Gemstone” Editions

You’ve heard us say it before (perhaps earlier today, even), and with indications already building of what Vans has coming in the future, you’ll hear us say it plenty more through the end of this year. The brand’s alignment with Satoshi Nakamoto and the experimental lean of their OTW label overall has carved out a renewed lane in streetwear for the California company, one that’s earned them many of their biggest cultural and resale hits in recent memory.

The mainline “Pearlized” pack continues apace, and adjacent efforts like the Chanel-inspired “Souvenir” and “La Habana” play off of those jeweled hallmarks with a deeper narrative spin. Could we be seeing a third pillar of that effort building? Vans has just let loose a new two-pack titled the “Gemstone” Old Skool, immediately wearing those same overtones with circular marbles patched onto the tongue, heel, and toe. In that, these two pairs offer up something of an inversion, leaving the SideStripe unadulterated, whereas their predecessors focused jewelry inspirations in those sections.

We’ll also call out the “Vans Premium” subhead here, as opposed to the aforementioned OTW brand. The leather panels here are tangible confirmation of a heightened material quality, something that likely prompts a bit of a price premium to boot. Brown and pink palettes finish out these pairs, which additionally offer leather laces for some extra personality.
