Nike Prepares For April Showers With A New Batch Of Air Force 1 Vibram Options

Since its debut in 1982, the Air Force 1 has remained one of Nike’s most enduring silhouettes. Over the decades, it has cycled from basketball shoe to cultural cornerstone through countless materials and finishes, from crisp triple-white leather to high-shine patent builds that are set to be mega-trending this Summer. This Spring, however, Nike takes the icon somewhere entirely new.

Rather than leaning into nostalgia, the brand reimagines the Air Force 1 through an outdoor performance lens. Traditional leather uppers give way to durable nylon exteriors with grid-like threading, immediately shifting the shoe’s visual and functional identity into that true gorp category. There are a few classic hits via the leather heel-tab and Swoosh as well as the nylon tongue, keeping things true to Bruce Kilgore’s OG design.

The update feels purposeful via the most significant transformation, which arrives underfoot. A Vibram sole replaces the standard rubber tooling, introducing trail-ready traction and enhanced grip for those uneven terrain. The redesigned outsole pattern further emphasizes this recalibration, signaling that this is an Air Force 1 built for movement, not just style.
