Lunar New Year sneakers often lean into bright reds and obvious graphics. adidas takes a quieter route this time, leaning on materials and light instead of loud storytelling. That idea comes through clearly on the adidas Evo SL “Chinese New Year,” a performance runner that carries a celebratory feel without drifting too far from the model’s streamlined identity.
Across the upper, a translucent textile creates the most noticeable detail. Under certain lighting, the surface shifts between soft greens, faint pinks, and cool metallic tones. The base sits in Clear Grey, which allows those changing hues to show naturally. Under the material, the Three Stripes appear through a dotted gradient pattern that adds depth while keeping the silhouette light.
A darker Aurora Onix collar and tongue help frame the upper. Light grey laces sit over the top, while a vertical ADIZERO wordmark in yellow and purple breaks up the neutral center line. Along the midsole edge, Purple Burst accents add another small flash of color.
Details have kept plenty of elements consistent with previous colorways of the model. Lightstrike Pro foam is used for the midsole to once again provide the responsive cushioning found on adidas’ running line. Purple Burst rubber overlays the forefoot portion of the outsole. Semi-translucent heel pods and Continental traction branding complete the shoe.
The adidas Evo SL “Chinese New Year” will be available March 11, 2026 at adidas.com and select retail locations for $160.
