Few shoes tackle dark colorways better than the AF1. Nike’s subtle use of contrast instead of loud color blocking tends to feel sophisticated rather than brash. This philosophy is what guides the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Black/Light Smoke Grey,” a fresh new hue dropping this Summer.
Black tumbled leather builds most of the upper, wrapping the mudguard, eyestays, and heel with visible grain. Lighter Light Smoke Grey panels appear across the toe box and midfoot, breaking up the darker base without disrupting the model’s classic shape. Perforations remain in place on the toe, keeping the familiar airflow design intact.
Movement across the side comes from a Light Smoke Grey Swoosh, which contrasts cleanly against the black leather backdrop. Grey accents are seen on the heel tab, while a mini Swoosh on the lateral heel is a detail AF1 heads will surely recognize. A combination of smooth and braided leather also effortlessly adds depth to what would otherwise be a basic two-tone color scheme.
Below, everything returns to black. The midsole carries the traditional “AIR” branding, while Nike’s encapsulated cushioning remains inside. Circular traction rings on the outsole stay untouched from the original basketball design.
