Jordan Brand keeps digging through its archives of early performance footwear and now it’s shining the light on the Air Jordan OG “Black/University Red” colorway. Inspired by late-‘90s training shoe design, the silhouette sports a classic Chicago palette with hints of modern tweaks for a look that merges old with just a hint of new.
Predominantly black across the upper, the build utilizes nubuck, mesh plating and pepper dimples. Those material shifts create visual depth while preserving the original trainer’s functional aesthetic. University Red accents land on the Jumpman logo at the tongue and along the lateral midsole, adding sharp contrast against the dark base.
More red continues beneath the foot with a bold outsole that anchors the color scheme. Between those tones, a white midsole introduces balance while highlighting the model’s structured shape. The heel finishes the design with another red Jumpman placed above an embroidered “W,” confirming the women’s-exclusive release.
Jordan Brand’s decision to revive the silhouette also signals broader interest in its early cross-training lineup. Alongside this “Bred”-inspired edition, additional updated colorways are expected as the brand reintroduces the model to a new generation.
