Like most people, Kanye West’s journey comes with more than a few “what ifs.” What if he never got in that car crash? What if he never interrupted Taylor? What if he never left Nike? What if he didn’t win that Grammy for The College Dropout? The list goes on, and now we’ve got another question worth adding.
Speaking at StockX’s 10-year anniversary panel, former adidas executive Jon Wexler revealed an unreleased adidas Yeezy model he believes could have become a “billion-dollar franchise.” Dubbed the Yeezy Boost 350 “1.5,” the sneaker borrows the medial panel from the 350 V1 but introduces a completely different knit pattern and, most notably, an exposed Boost midsole.
It ultimately never released, and the 350 V2 went on to become the most popular and best-selling adidas Yeezy model of them all. In another timeline, though, could we be talking about the 1.5 in that same light? It’s certainly possible.
Take a look at Jon Wexler discussing the scrapped model below.
