adidas Creates The Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive For Athletes With Disabilities

by thesneakerscroll@gmail.com

There’s not much that truly unites the sneakerhead crowd, but one thing most can agree on is that it’s always a win when brands take steps to make footwear more accessible – whether that’s through price, availability, or, in this case, designing for specific consumers. Enter the adidas Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive, a new take on the Supernova Rise 3 proper created in partnership with and for adaptive athletes and people with disabilities.

The shoe has been in development since 2022, shaped through adidas’ partnership with Chris Nikic, the first person with Down syndrome to complete an Ironman. His perspective, along with insights from adaptive athletes, members of the disability community, and close collaboration with inclusive design leaders and Paralympians at GAMUT Management, helped guide the process in a meaningful way.

The Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive carries over the comfort and wider fit the Supernova line is known for, while introducing thoughtful modifications that make the shoe easier to put on, adjust, and run in. You can find a full breakdown of the tech, in both men’s and women’s sizing, embedded at the end of the gallery below.
