Sneaker Room is bringing Puerto Rican pride to the adidas Adistar Control 5 with a new collaboration rooted in community, culture, and heritage. The Jersey City boutique, founded by Suraj Kaufman, channels the island’s flag colors into a bright, energetic runner built with meaning beyond the shoe itself.
The Sneaker Room x adidas Adistar Control 5 “Puerto Rico” features a bold blue mesh upper with red Three Stripes across the side panels. White overlays add contrast, while reflective silver details give the retro runner a sharper finish. The color blocking immediately connects to Puerto Rico’s flag, but the shoe keeps enough adidas heritage to feel true to the Adistar line.
A removable tongue patch adds one of the collaboration’s strongest details. The patch features an interlocking “PR” logo, giving the pair a direct nod to Puerto
Rico while adding a custom touch to the design. Underfoot, the outsole brings in green, yellow, blue, and red for a lively finish inspired by Puerto Rican culture.
Sneaker Room’s work often carries a deeper message, and this release continues that approach. Kaufman has supported giveback efforts across Puerto Rico, India, and Jersey City, making this collaboration feel closely tied to both place and purpose.
The Sneaker Room x adidas Adistar Control 5 “Puerto Rico” releases first at a Puerto Rico event on May 16, 2026. A wider stateside release is expected to follow shortly after.
