adidas Originals is bringing its premium A-TYPE line to the public for the first time with the adidas A-TYPE SS26 collection. First introduced last year as a Friends & Family project, A-TYPE reworks heritage adidas designs through Italian craftsmanship, luxury materials, and a more refined point of view.
The collection is led by the A-LEATHER Superstar, a high-end take on one of adidas’ most important archive models. Its shape pulls from the Superstar’s earliest prototype, while the upper uses premium leather with a debossed canvas-like texture. Cashmere laces, detachable lace tips, silver-plated lace jewelry, and a Lightstrike Pro midsole add modern detail to the classic design.
adidas also gives the release a stronger luxury feel through its packaging. Each A-LEATHER Superstar comes in a molded shoe box with wooden shoe trees, placing the sneaker closer to a collector’s item than a standard Originals launch.
The apparel side continues that elevated direction with the Archetype Firebird tracksuit, made in Italy from sheep leather. The A-LEATHER Track Top and A-LEATHER Pant reinterpret the classic adidas tracksuit with premium construction, soft materials, and a sharper finish.
Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, adidas also created football-inspired A-TYPE pieces, including a jersey, football, and carrier. Those items will remain Friends & Family exclusives and will not release to the public. The football takes cues from the Three Stripes’ Trionda ball and is designed more as a collectible object than on-field gear.
