It’s rare that an imprint is able to take over the timeline with their first-ever sneaker collaboration, and rarer still for that to occur on a model that’s still somewhat of an unknown commodity. The Reebok DMX Series 3000 had already piqued the interest of the shoe obsessives via an exclusive Packer Shoes collaboration, but it was the work of Brain Child that helped accelerate its trajectory; hearing that their sunset pair would be limited to just 150 pairs certainly didn’t hurt, either.
If you thought the Brain Child x Reebok story was over, here’s a late-breaking epilogue. In a new social blast, the newly-monikered “Cosmic Reef” pack adds this “Blue Nebula” edition, leaning on the same gradient style as chapter one, but switching into duskier, moodier tones throughout. That goes for black trim around the body of this vis tech silhouette, and for the ombre choice within the mesh uppers; a baby-blue-to-yellow treatment stretches from toe to quarter, mirroring the detail choices in in the branding and cushioning underfoot.
Given that the initial announcement of the “Red Nebula” came before a wide launch was announced, our interest is certainly piqued by Brain Dead’s phraseology in their post, closing it “More info soon @reebok.” For now, we’re regarding this as a sample or view of “what could’ve been,” but if we receive word otherwise, we’ll inform you here.
