Willy Chavarria’s latest adidas project gives the Copa Mundial a much heavier streetwear read. The Willy Chavarria x adidas Copa Mundial Megaride is currently listed overseas for a June 10th release, with a U.S. launch expected to follow soon through adidas.com.
The design works because it does not overcomplicate the football reference. A smooth black leather upper keeps the Copa Mundial shape familiar, while white Three Stripes and a matching heel tab bring in that classic adidas contrast. The small “Copa Mundial” text near the side stripes also keeps the model’s boot heritage front and center.
Chavarria’s branding changes the mood without taking over the shoe. The extended fold-over tongue features bold “CHAVARRIA” lettering in white, giving the pair a runway-meets-pitch feel. It also adds a stronger visual break across the otherwise clean black upper.
The Megaride sole gives the sneaker its most dramatic shift. Instead of staying close to the original football boot shape, adidas adds a bulky black platform with large cut-out pods across the midsole. That tooling makes the shoe feel more current, especially as fashion sneakers continue leaning into exaggerated proportions.
Additional details include black laces, a dark rubber outsole, circular traction pods, and double Three Stripes branding on the insole. The black-and-white layout keeps everything wearable, while the shape gives the pair enough edge to stand apart from standard adidas terrace styles.
The Willy Chavarria x adidas Copa Mundial Megaride releases June 10, 2026 through overseas retailers. Official U.S. release details have not been confirmed yet, but a stateside drop is expected soon.
