New Balance is afforded certain privileges vis a vis their competitors on account of not being a publicly traded company. Surely it’s in their best interest to follow overwhelming trade winds, something we see in some of their trendy fare like the vis tech New Balance 2000 or their big bet on the “sneaker loafer.” A shoe like the New Balance Allerdale demonstrates their ability to take big swings essentially to the beat of their own drum; this side of Mephisto, no one has a representative of the “grandpa shoe” or “walking shoe” comprable to the Flimby product.

Beyond its finer categorization, the New Balance Allerdale has functioned as a love letter to the Made in UK branch overall, now coming to a head with this “Moorland Textures” colorway. For the uninitiated, the moorlands are extensive regions nin the British Isles; this mixture of olive canvas  and brown suede aims to replicate the flowing hills of shrubbery and grasslands. For our purposes, this presents one of only a handful of colorways that breaks from flooded uppers; the collab with Drake’s London is really the only comparison in that regard.

The New Balance Allerdale “Moorland Textures” is already listed on NewBalance.com for an October 15th launch. Be prepared for a $250 retail price upon arrival.
