Nike has never shied away from giving flowers to those individuals who have helped drive the company to its current worldwide dominance. While we’ve grown accustomed to seeing homages to early founders like Bill Bowerman or seminal track athletes like Steve Prefontaine, during the 2024 Olympics the brand oded a far more modern figure. Sandy Boedecker, a shepherd of Nike SB as it grew from a curiosity in Beaverton into a totemic force in its own right.
While previous product paid homage to the late legend, the Nike SB PS8 entered as the most full-throated by far, partially deriving its title from Boedecker’s Instagram handle and presented as an apex product in the lineage that he began. It’s only right that with that weighty, history-soaked prompt, the model looks to a timeless skate look in black and gum. While hitting on an aesthetic cue that plenty of its peers and predecessors have before is notable in its own right, this also comes with some hardware changes, only the second colorway to replace its translucent sole unit with a solid, opaque counterpart.
The Nike SB PS8 in black and gum is expected to touch down as a part of Nike’s Fall 2025 offerings, retailing for $120.
