As the focus remains on the Air Max 95 and soon, the Air Max 97 as it enters its 2027 anniversary, the Air Max Plus is left to make its own intrigue. For our money, we’re looking at one of the more impressive we’ve seen of late: the Nike Air Max Plus “Lava Lamp.”
Alternatively, yet still unofficially, these are being called the “Oil Slick” colorway, no doubt for the shimmering, iridescent tonality running across the side waves. But it’s the geometry of those sections that inspires the moniker we’re using here, as those “liquid” sections bend and streak towards the rear in the same way the iconic 70s decor does. Jet black hues utilized through nearly every other piece of territory sets a sensible foundation and allows those overlay sections to truly take center stage for this pair.
The Nike Air Max Plus “Lava Lamp” should be coming soon to Nike.com, retailing for the standard $190 upon arrival.
